Osterbruch

Easter break (pronounced with a long o Easter such as Easter, break with long u as in book; Low German Osterbrook ) is a town in Lower Saxony Land Hadeln in the district of Cuxhaven.

Geographical Location

Easter break is located in the Lower Elbe region.

The proximity to the mouth of the Elbe and the North Sea bring with it the danger that in the event of a dike breach at a storm surge, the municipality located more than 2 m above sea level could be flooded to a large extent. One possible scenario is described in the article Glameyer stack.

History

Is first mentioned Osterbruch 1207 under the name " Osterbrok ", when the church was given to the Bremen cathedral chapter by the then Archbishop of Bremen, " Hartwig II of Utlede ". This church is dedicated to St. Peter.

The Mill Museum

In the district of " pig's head " is an intact Gallery Dutch windmill dating from the year 1871. It was repaired in the 1980s with great effort of two individuals set and houses since 1988 a comprehensive exhibition mill. In this detail accurately restored mill there are two apartments that are integrated into the mill (eg are the grinder or the wooden gear components of the common areas ).
