Palagianello

Palagianello ( in the local dialect: Palascianìdde, Pulscianìdde or Poloscianìdde ) is a Southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7829 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Taranto in Apulia. The community is located about 27 kilometers northwest of Taranto. Palagianello belongs to the Comunità Montana della Taranto Murgia.

History

1463 Palagianello is first mentioned. The place name probably stems forth from the gentile name Palavianus.

Traffic

Round the village leads around the Autostrada A14 from Bari coming towards Taranto. A connection does not exist. To the south runs in an east -west direction, the Strada Statale 7 Appia. On the railway line Bari - Taranto is a railway station in Palagianello.
