Pan American Games

Pan American Games are held every four years one year before the Summer Olympics. The competitions will take place mainly in the Olympic sports for athletes in the Americas. These contests are of the Pan American Sports Organization according to the rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC ) and the various national sports federations aligned. As a non-Olympic sports include futsal and squash to the program.

The games were during a meeting of the Pan-American Congress in Buenos Aires ( Argentina) launched in 1940 to life in order to enable closer links between athletes in the Americas.

The First Pan-American Games were supposed to take place in 1942, but the Second World War thwarted this plan. So the competition was first held in 1951 in Buenos Aires. In the following time the games were held in various cities of the continent. 2011 was the Mexican Guadalajara hosted the XVI. Pan-American Games.
