Pavlovsky Posad

Pavlovsky Posad (Russian Павловский Посад, even Pavlov Posad ) is a city in Russia with 63 711 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ). It is located in the Moscow Oblast on the river Klyazma and on the railway line Moscow - Vladimir - Nizhny Novgorod, about 68 km east of Moscow.

History

The town was founded as a village Pavlovo already around 1328. During the 18th century here, the textile industry, which had earned a reputation over the decades also outside the village developed. This led to a lively economic growth through trade with the locally produced products. 1844 Pavlovo concluded with some neighboring villages to a place together. This at the same time received the status of a city within the Moscow province awarded. The new name Pavlovsky Posad meant so much as Pawlowoer suburb.
