Penna in Teverina

Penna in Teverina is a municipality with 1053 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Terni in the Umbria region of Italy.

Geography

The municipality covers 10 km ². It is located about 70 km south of Perugia and about 25 km southwest of Terni. It is part of the smallest area of ​​municipality of Umbria. The town is located on the Tiber and Teverinatal and in the climatic classification of Italian communities in the zone D, GR 1914 / G.

Penna in Taverina does not have districts.

The neighboring municipalities are Amelia, Giove and places (VT).

History

First mentioned is the place in the 11th century. Since the 13th century Penna was a fief of the Orsini. 1492 took over Amelia the rule in place. At the end of the 18th century was the place owned by the Del Gallo di Roccagiovine family and remained there until the entry into the Kingdom of Italy in 1860.
