Pescosansonesco
Pescosansonesco is a municipality with 518 inhabitants and is located near Castiglione a Casauria and Corvara in the province of Pescara.
Geography
The municipality is located southeast of the Gran Sasso d' Italia and covers about 18.5 km ².
Among the districts ( fractions) include Colle della Guardia, Decontra and Dogli.
Borders the following municipalities: Bussi sul Tirino, Castiglione a Casauria, Corvara and Pietranico.
History
The community was named in the 14th century Pesco Sedonisco. The abbey church of San Clemente a Casauria was then owned by the municipality. The parish church of San Nicola dates from the 12th century and the church of San Giovanni was built around 1500.
Economy
The community lives on agriculture. The great forests and pastures provide plenty of food for sheep and pigs. The cultivation of cereals and potatoes is of great importance for the village.
Specialty
In the surroundings of the village vines of Montepulciano are grown for the DOC wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
