Elice

Elice is a municipality in the immediate vicinity of Castilenti and Città Sant'Angelo and is located in the province of Pescara. It counts 1730 inhabitants and has a size of 14 km ².

The neighboring municipalities are: Atri (TE ), Castilenti (TE ), Città Sant'Angelo, Collecorvino, penne and Picciano.

History

The area has been inhabited since the Paleolithic, thanks to the fertility of the land. The village's name derives from the oaks, which once stood in the area from. In the 15th century Elice belonged to the municipality of Penne and for a long time, the Castiglione family. The village became known late 19th century for its pottery workshops.

In the surroundings of the village vines of Montepulciano for the DOC - cultivated wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
