Rosciano

Rosciano is a municipality with 3790 inhabitants and is located near Nocciano and Cepagatti in the province of Pescara.

Geography

The municipality covers 27 km ².

Among the districts ( fractions) are Oliveti Villa, Villa San Giovanni, Villa Badessa, piano Fara and Piano del Ciero.

Borders the following municipalities: Alanno, Cepagatti, Chieti, Manoppello, Nocciano and Pianella.

History

The area has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age, were found artifacts from this period. In the Roman period a settlement here was established. Excavations have met with various objects such as sarcophagi, furniture and weapons.

Specialty

In the surroundings of the village vines of Montepulciano are grown for the DOC wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. In Rosciano much olive oil is produced.
