Ramenskoye, Moscow Oblast

Ramenskoje (Russian Раменское ) is a Russian city with about 96 317 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in the Moscow Oblast. It is located around 45 km south-east of Moscow. Nearest city is known by its flight technology center Zhukovsky, seven kilometers away from Ramenskoje.

History

In a document of 1328 there is a first mention of the area called Ramenje what was the biggest means as much as " forest edge ". However, the actual origin of the present-day city must have first used in the 1760s, when the village Troizkoje was built in the area. This was later after the original designation Ramenje in Ramenskoje, ie " the village in Ramenje " renamed. Even in the 18th century originated in Troizkoje an extensive estate, which had at that time a part of the princely family Wolkonski.

In the early 19th century was Ramenskoje seat one of the first cotton mills in the Moscow area. This factory was founded by representatives of the gender of Galitzin and was already in the 1870s as one of the largest of its kind in Russia. On March 15, 1926, the factory settlement Ramenskoje received city rights. Three years later it became the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons in the Moscow Oblast.
