Rittersdorf

Knight village is a municipality in the southern part of the Weimar area and part of the administrative community Crane box.

Geography and Geology

The village lies on a trough-shaped plateau of the Ilm -Saale- calcareous plate and can be reached via the national road 87 from Stadtilm after crane field over a steadily increasing running through a forest village link road. Another connection is still on the main road in 1060 from Bad Berka after Tannroda leader. Geologically, the district is located Ritter village in the outskirts of the Thuringian Basin. Past and present

The place is a Franconian establishment took place around 1150. On August 25, 1311 was the first mention of the place in a document documented. Knight village was and is an agricultural center.

The dominating ( in 2012 ) the cultivation of oilseed rape in the surrounding fields ("Power Plant "). The energy cooperative Knight village eG provides solar power for the first Thuringian green electricity tariff with regionally produced solar power share

In the local picture, there are beautifully renovated residential and commercial building truss, mostly former farmhouses, overshadowed in part by insulating panels. The Church of St. George is restored.
