Saint-Maur-des-Fossés
Saint- Maur- des-Fosses is a French town in the department of Val -de- Marne Île -de -France region, with 74 818 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ).
Geography
Saint- Maur- des-Fosses is south east of Paris at the Marne and is almost completely surrounded by a loop of the river.

History
Saint -Maur was built around a monastery founded in 639, which initially bore the name Saint- Pierre du Fossé. 868 received the abbey relics of St. Maurus. An alleged miracle in the 12th century and thus emerging pilgrimage prompted the monks to give the monastery the name that the city still bears today.
