Simone Raineri

Career

Raineri began in 1988 with the rowing. In 1994, he finished with the Italian sculls second place at the Junior World Championships in 1995 won the Italian crew the title. In 1998 he won the World Cup in Hazewinkel our first race with the Italian sculls, but Raineri sat at the World Rowing Championships in 1998 and eight finished fifth in this class of boat. After a rather unsuccessful 1999 in the double sculls Raineri 2000 again belonged to the Italian sculls and won with this boat both at the World Cup on the Rotsee as well as at the Olympic Games in Sydney.

After two bronze medals at the World Championships in 2001 and 2002 the Italian foursome with double Raineri occupied in 2003 only to sixth place at the World Championships, a year later, the boat even reached at the Olympic Games only in tenth place. At the 2005 World Championships with a fifth place in 2006 with the fourth place, the Italian sculls slowly struggled back to the top. 2007 took the boat again to fourth place at the World Championships and won silver at the European Championships. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Raineri erruderte in the quadruple sculls silver medal behind the boat from Poland.
