Sommacampagna

Sommacampagna is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 14,634 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Province of Verona in the Veneto region. The community is located about 12 kilometers west of Verona (16 kilometers to the city center) in the Po Plain. The oldest surviving building is a chapel dating from the 5th century AD, dedicated to the Apostle Andrew.

History

In the First Italian War of Independence, a battle between the Habsburg Empire and the combined forces of the Kingdom of Sardinia, the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies was held on 24 July 1848 Sommacampagna.

Community partnership

Sommacampagna maintains a partnership with the Austrian town of Hall in Tirol.

Traffic

Sommacampagna is located on the A4 motorway from Turin to Trieste. In about five kilometers away is the Verona airport.
