South Aegean

As South Aegean ( Greek Notio Egeo Νότιο Αιγαίο [ nɔtjɔ ɛʝɛɔ ] ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece called. It has around 300,000 inhabitants and consists of the Dodecanese island group ( which belongs to the Southern Sporades ) and the Cyclades, who formed their own prefectures before the start of Kallikratis program until 2010. Council is based in Syros (Greek Ερμούπολη ) on Syros.

Regional districts and municipalities

The South Aegean region is divided into 13 regional districts. Proportional to their population, they send a certain number of MEPs in the 51 -member Regional Council.
