Naxos (regional unit)

The Regional District of Naxos (Greek Periferiaki Enotita Naxou Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Νάξου ) is one of 13 regional districts of the Greek region South Aegean. It was formed on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 from four island communities of the former Cyclades Prefecture. Proportional to its 20,933 inhabitants sent to the field four deputies in the regional council, but has no more political significance than local authority. It is divided today into the two communities Amorgos and Naxos and Small Cyclades.
