Central Athens (regional unit)

The Regional District of downtown Athens (Greek Periferiaki Enotita Kendrikou Tomea Athinon Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Κεντρικού Τομέα Αθηνών ) is one of eight regional districts of the Greek region of Attica. It was formed on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 from the Municipality of Athens and some adjacent municipalities of the prefecture district of Athens. In proportion to its population of 1.02952 million deploys the area 30 MPs in the Attic Regional Council, but has no more political significance than local authority. It is divided into the communities of Athens, Dafni - Ymittos, Filadelfia Chalkidona, Galatsi, Ilioupoli, Kesariani, Vyronas and Zografos.
