The area extends from the southern part of the city of Boston in the east to New London in the West and in addition to a nearly 24 km wide coastal strip along the Long Iceland Sound, on the Cape Cod peninsula and along the Massachusetts Bay and all the offshore islands in this area. Although by its coastal location, the climate is temperate, select the winemakers still very winter-hardy French hybrid vines such as Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc and Marechal Foch. As part of a quality improvement but find more and more noble grapes of the Vitis vinifera family such as Riesling input in the Blend.
