Steven Schiff

Steven Harvey Schiff ( born March 18, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois; † 25 March 1998 in Albuquerque, New Mexico ) was an American politician. Between 1989 and 1998 he represented the first electoral district of the State of New Mexico in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years and career

Steven ship went up in 1968, the University of Chicago and then studied until 1972 at the Law Faculty of the University of New Mexico law. After qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in his new profession. From 1969 to 1998, until his death, he was a member of the Squadron of the National Guard. Between 1972 and 1977 he was a deputy district attorney in Bernalillo County. After that, he was one of the lawyers for the city of Albuquerque and 1979-1981 Advisor to the police in this city. From 1980 to 1988 he was district attorney in Bernalillo County.

Political career

Steven ship was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1988 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he Manuel Lujan replaced on January 3, 1989. After he was re-elected in the next elections, respectively, remained ship until his death from a skin cancer on 25 March 1998 in Congress. The by-elections due then won Heather Wilson.
