Tranquilino Luna

Tranquilino Luna ( born February 25, 1849 in Los Lunas, Mexico, † November 20, 1892 in Peralta, New Mexico ) was an American politician. Between 1881 and 1884 he represented the New Mexico Territory as a delegate in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

After primary school visited was born in what is now Valencia County Tranquilino Luna the University of Missouri. He then became a successful rancher. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party, whose Republican National Convention he attended between 1880 and 1888 as a delegate. On these days Party James A. Garfield and Benjamin Harrison was nominated as the presidential candidate of the respective party.

In the congressional elections of 1880, he was elected as a delegate in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he took over from the March 4, 1881 Mariano S. Otero. In Congress, he completed until March 3, 1883 a first full term. Since he had been confirmed in 1882, he began on March 4, 1883, a second term of office. However, it was levied against the election results of 1882 by Francisco Antonio Manzanares appeal, which was granted a year later. Therefore, Luna had to give up his position on 5 March 1884. Between 1888 and 1892 he was Sheriff in the Valencia County.
