Albert G. Simms

Albert Gallatin Simms ( born October 8, 1882 in Washington, Hempstead County, Arkansas, † December 29, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico ) was an American politician. Between 1929 and 1931 he represented the first electoral district of the state of New Mexico in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

Albert Simms first attended private schools and then the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. In 1906 he moved to Monterrey in Mexico. There he worked as an accountant. 1912 could be Albert Simms in Silver City, New Mexico down. After studying law and his 1915 was admitted to the bar he began to work in his new profession until 1919 in Albuquerque.

Political career

Simms was a member of the Republican Party. From 1920 to 1922 he was a member of the City Council of Albuquerque. At the same time he was president of the County Council in Bernalillo County. Simms has been renowned in the banking business and became president of the National Bank in Albuquerque and a mortgage company. Between 1925 and 1927 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from New Mexico. In 1928 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he replaced John Morrow on March 4, 1929. Since he was not re-elected in 1930, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1931. From 1932 to 1934 Albert Simms was a member of the Republican National Committee. He then worked as a banker, farmer and rancher. He died in December 1964 in Albuquerque and was also buried there.
