Tapio Räisänen

Tapio Räisänen ( born May 10, 1949 in Taivalkoski ) is a former Finnish ski jumper.

Career

Räisänen, who jumped for the Kainuun Hiihtoseura, made ​​his international debut at the opening event of the Four Hills Tournament 1975/76 December 30, 1975 in Oberstdorf. After his best result was the 28th place in Innsbruck, he ended the tour ranked 37 overall.

In 1976 he won the Finnish Championship on the large hill. In the same year, he jumped at the Svenska Skidspelen in Falun to second place. In the Ski Flying World Championships 1977 in Vikersund he reached the seventh rank.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1978 in Lahti he was then surprisingly with jumps of 111.5 and 108 meters world champion on the large hill, on the normal hill he was with jumps of 83.5 and 84.5 meters Sixth .. In the team competition, he won the team the silver medal behind the winning team from the GDR. In the summer of 1978, the victory he succeeded in jumping on the ski jump in Berchtesgaden.

With the Four Hills Tournament 1978/79 he played his best tour. By the ninth rank on the Paul- Ausserleitner hill in Bischofshofen, he reached his best tour - single result.

After a victory in a FIS competition in Sapporo in 1980 he succeeded his only A-class victory after the World Cup 1978. It was also his last big success before he finished his career.

Räisänen is married and father of two children. Today he is working in tourism and operates the resort Kuuharjun Mökit (German blockhouses Kuuharju ) in Lappish Taivalkoski. In addition, he is active in his ski school for children and young people. The Finnish Minister of Education and the Ministry of Culture awarded Räisänen on 19 December 2012, 20,000 euro " Pro Sports Recognition Award " for his achievements reached in sports.
