The Thompson Township is one of 23 townships in Jo Daviess County in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Illinois.

Geography

The Thompson Township is located in northwestern Illinois. The border with Iowa, which is formed from the Mississippi River, located approximately 30 km to the west. The border with Wisconsin is located 10 north.

The Thompson Township is located at 42 ° 24'52 " north latitude and 90 ° 09'48 " west longitude and extending over 95.36 km ², spread over 93.65 km ² land and 1.71 km ² water surface. In the center of Thompson Township is the Apple Canyon Lake.

The Thompson Township is bordered Jo Daviess within the County in the north to the Apple River Township, on the east by the Rush Township, to the southeast by the Stockton Township, on the south by the Woodbine Township, to the southwest by the Elizabeth Township, on the west by the Guilford Township and to the northwest by the Scales Mound Township.

Traffic

In the Thompson Township no highways exist. The township is traversed by a series partly unpaved County Roads and other minor roads.

The nearest airports are about 60 km to the west located in Iowa Dubuque Regional Airport, which is around 50 km north-west located in Wisconsin Platteville Municipal Airport and about 60 km south-east located in Illinois Albertus Airport in Freeport.
