Tressandans

Tressandans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Tressandans situated at an altitude of 263 m above sea level, 3 km northwest of Rougemont and about 33 km west of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located on the southeastern edge of the valley of Ognon opposite Thief Frans, in the gently undulating landscape at Rougemont.

The area of ​​2.34 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the middle Ognontals. The western and northern boundary runs along the Ognon, the multi-turn here flows through a wide valley. From the river, the municipality's area extends southeastward across the alluvial plain to the adjacent high terrace, partly forested, is passed partly under arable and meadow land. At 295 m is reached the highest elevation of Tressandans in the forest area of the Bois de la Corne.

Neighboring communities of Tressandans are Chassey -lès- Montbozon and Bonnal in the north, Rougemont in the east and south, and Frans Thief in the West.

History

The territory of Tressandans was settled very early. On the corridor Chatey there was a prehistoric ramparts. In the Middle Ages Tressandans was under the rule of Rougemont. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The Lavoir of Tressandans ( laundry and livestock watering ) is from 1883. About the Ognon performs a stone bridge from the 19th century.

Population

With 36 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Tressandans is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1906 84 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Tressandans was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Rougemont to Thief Frans. Further road links exist with Bonnal and Montferney.
