Fontenelle - Montby is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Fontenelle - Montby is located at 425 m, 12 km north-northeast of Baume- les -Dames and about 29 km west of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located on the gently undulating Kalkhochfläche between the river valleys of the Doubs River in the south and in the north Ognon.

The area of ​​6.65 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating countryside between Doubs and Ognon. The entire area is occupied by the water-poor plateau of Fontenelle, which is an average of 420 meters. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but also shows some of larger forest areas, especially the Bois de Courbot and the Bois des épaisses. There are only a few rivulets that seeps through the karstic underground after a short distance. With 470 m is reached on a hill in the southeast of the community of Charmois area the highest elevation of Fontenelle - Montby. To the north of the municipality extends to the bottom of Mont Roland above the steep drop to the valley of the Drigeon.

Neighboring communities of Fontenelle - Montby are Cuse -et- Adrisans and Nan in the north, and Uzelle Gondenans - Montby in the east, the south and Viéthorey Mésandans, Romain and Gondenans -les- Moulins in the West.

Attractions

The village church of Fontenelle - Montby was built in the 18th century. A former manor house is now used as a farm.

Population

With 103 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Fontenelle - Montby is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1911 223 persons were still counted ), only relatively small variations have since been recorded.

Economy and infrastructure

Fontenelle - Montby was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community.
