Geographical Location

Triefenstein lies at the southern end of the district of Main-Spessart in the main square. The Main divides the market Triefenstein: On the rechtsmainischen side lies on sandstone fertile arable loess soil; on the linksmainischen page begins with the shell, the second layer of the Lower Franconian escarpment country. Klostersee separation field

The Klostersee was created 1972-1975 by gravel extraction. The water area is approximately 76,000 m², shoreline length about 1700 meters, the water depth up to 5 meters. History

The monastery was founded in 1102 Triefenstein ( with Rettersheim ) and separation field fell in the kingdom in 1803 to the Counts Lowenstein -Wertheim, and came in 1806 to the Principality of Aschaffenburg.
