Urumqi (Chinese乌鲁木齐, Pinyin Wūlǔmùqí, also: Urumchi or Urumchi, until 1954, Dihua ) is the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China. The city is also the principal city of the landscape Dzungaria. As a prefecture-level city of Urumqi has an administrative area of 14216.3 km ² and approximately 2.02 million inhabitants ( 2007).

Climate

History
