Valencia BC

Valencia Basket Club is a Spanish basketball club from Valencia, who play in the Spanish ACB League. Play their home games in the club from Pabellón Fuente de San Luis with 9,000 seats.

History

The basketball club Valencia Basket Club broke up in 1986 by the football club FC Valencia, they served up at this time as a basketball section, and enrolled as an independent club. The first team was playing in the second division. In the season 1987/88 he already made a promotion to the ACB league from which the team is no longer relegated to the 1995/96 season, which was to be spent again in the second division.

The first big success reaching the club in the late 1990s. In the 1997/98 season, the team qualified for the first time in club history for the Spanish Cup and was able to win this totally surprising. After victories against TAU Vitoria and Fórum Valladolid in the quarter and semi-finals, the Valencian prevailed over Festina Joventut in the final with 89:75. The title success eligible for the first time to participate in an international competition, the Saporta Cup 1998 /99. Here reached Pamesa Valencia, as the club was called at that time, the final, but it lost to Benetton Treviso narrowly 60:64.

After another finals of the Spanish Cup 1999/2000 and in the Saporta Cup of 2001/ 02 was followed the next big success in the 2002/03 season. In the first edition of the newly created ULEB Cup, the second highest European competition for club teams, the team sat in the KO Phase against Rhein Energy Cologne, KK Zadar and CB Estudiantes by reaching the final, where the Spaniards KK Krka Novo mesto defeated and their first international trophy conquered. Also in the Spanish championship, the club reached the final play-off, but lost to FC Barcelona.

The next great success was to follow on the international stage in 2009/10 again. When Eurocup Valencia once again reached the final round, sat down in the quarter and semi-finals respectively against Aris Thessaloniki and Bizkaia Bilbao Basket by and met in the final at ALBA Berlin. Through a clear 67:44 victory against the German representatives, Valencia captured his second international title.

In the season 2011/12 Valencia Basket Club for the fifth year reached the final of a European Bewerbes, the Eurocup is lost but this time with 68:77 against BK Khimki.
