WakÅ, Saitama
Wako (Japanese和 光 市, -shi ) is a city in Saitama Prefecture on Honshu, the main island of Japan.
Geography
Wako is located east of Tokorozawa, Saitama south and north of Tokyo.
History
The city Wako was founded on 31 October 1970. First Honda had there its manufacturing facility. The factory has now been postponed, but the Honda Research Institute has its headquarters there. Next is WAKO headquarters of the world-renowned public research organization RIKEN. The population rose from 40,000 in obtaining the status of a city on currently about 80,000.
