Nerima, Tokyo

Nerima (Japanese练 马 区, -ku ) is the newest of the 23 city wards of Tokyo, capital of Japan.

Geography

Nerima is bordered to the east by the municipalities and Shinjuku Itabashi, Saitama to the north, on the west by the city Nishitōkyō and on the south by the municipalities Suginami, Toshima and Nakano and to the city of Musashino.

Nerima consists mainly of residential areas. There is little industry located.

History

The municipality became independent on August 1, 1947 by Itabashi.

The Stations of the Tōbu Nerima and Shimo- Akatsuka the Tōbu Tōjō Main Line belong to the municipality Itabashi.

Education

There are 70 public and private elementary school, as well as 34 public and four private secondary schools, nine public and four private secondary schools as well as private universities Musashino Academia Musicae, University Musashi, Nihon University and the Shakujii campus of the Faculty of Theology at Sophia University.

Mayor of Nerima since 2003 Toyoshiro Shimura, in front of nearly 50 years, employees of the district administration, from 1999 Deputy Mayor ( joyaku ). He was re-elected in uniform regional elections in April 2011 with LDP Kōmeitō support and an absolute majority of votes for a third term. Also in uniform elections, the 50 members of the Parliament are elected by district.

For the Parliament Tokyo prefecture is the District Six mandate constituency. In the election in June 2013, the seats went to three Liberal Democrats and one member each from Kōmeitō, JCP and DPJ.

For elections to national lower house itself Nerima extends into two constituencies: the larger western part is the 9th electoral district of the prefecture, a small part of the east part of Toshima, together with the 10th constituency. After the election in December 2012, both of which are represented by the Liberal Democrats: the Constituency 9 of Isshu Sugawara, the constituency 10 of Yuriko Koike.
