1939–40 Allsvenskan

The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1939/40, was the 16th season of the highest Swedish football league Fotbollsallsvenskan

Last year's champion IF Elfsborg could defend his title due to goal difference against IFK Göteborg. The former Swedish giants Örgryte IS finished, as well as promoted Hammarby IF the season in the relegation zone for the first time and had to stay in the second division.
