1979 Allsvenskan

The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1979 was the 55th season in the highest Swedish football league Fotbollsallsvenskan. Between 16 April and 28 October 1979, the Swedish championship was played.

Halmstad BK delivered himself in a duel with IFK Gothenburg for the Swedish championship title. With one point ahead HBK was able to get for the second time after 1976 the von Rosen's Cup. In addition to newly promoted IS Halmia who knocked Table was fought to the last match Djurgårdens IF, Åtvidabergs FF Landskrona BoIS, IFK Sundsvall and AIK Solna against relegation. On the final day AIK crashed on the penultimate place and had for the third time in club history descend from the first division.
