1973 Allsvenskan

The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1973 was the 49th season in the highest Swedish football league Fotbollsallsvenskan.

Between 1924 and 1972, the Allsvenskan had comprises twelve teams. The 1973 season was the first season in which 14 teams played for the title. This number was maintained until the 2007 season before the league was again increased.

Last year's champion Åtvidabergs FF could defend his title in 1973 and managed thus including the two Cup wins in 1970 and 1971 four national titles in a row. The Double - profit was prevented by the 0:7 - final defeat in Svenska Cupen against Malmö FF. The two relegation places were occupied by Örgryte IS and the novice IF Saab, who completed his only season in the Swedish House of Lords.
