1975–76 SM-liiga season
The SM- liiga - 1975/76 season was the first season of the Finnish SM- liiga. First champion of the new league was the TPS Turku, which thereby won the second Finnish championship in club history. Vaasan Sport finished in last place the relegation and thus rose from the second division.

Mode
The ten teams in the SM- liiga first played two double rounds with 18 games. While the first four teams for the play- offs qualified, the two last placed athlete had to play against the two best second- division club to avoid relegation. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.

SM- liiga relegation
The two last placed SM- liiga the main round and the two best second division played in round-trip game for promotion or relegation. Since Kiekko - Reipas and Kärpät each scored six points this played in a playoff against each other, which Kieeko - Reipas with 4:3 nV could decide for themselves.
