Background

During the three weeks that elapsed between the Canadian Grand Prix and the ninth world championship race of the year in Zandvoort, Didier Pironi survived an accident while testing at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet with minor injuries.

The Team Lotus announced the test driver and Grand Prix debutant Roberto Moreno as a replacement for the injured Nigel Mansell to the Dutch Grand Prix. Jan Lammers returned in time for his home race back into the team Theodore Racing. Also present was again the Toleman team with a now significantly modified cars.

Patrick Tambay, the firm was the successor of the fatally injured Gilles Villeneuve for several weeks, completed this weekend, his first race for Ferrari. The place of the also fatally injured Riccardo palletizing at Osella, however, was not filled for the remainder of the season.

Training

Race

In the 30th round Prost lost his second place at Piquet and retired three laps later convicted of an engine failure. This was ultimately Rosberg third ahead of Lauda and Derek Daly and Mauro Baldi.
