The final disputed Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge against Byron Black and Grant Connell. The " Woodies " won in four sets and were thus able to defend their title. This was their fourth joint triumph at the Wimbledon Championships ( after 1993, 1994 and 1995) and their sixth joint total Grand Slam titles.
