1998–99 Slovak Extraliga season

The 1998/ 99 Extraliga was the sixth regular hosting of the top division of Slovakia. In the playoff finals, the HC Košice sat against HC Slovan Bratislava by 3-1 victories and won the third Slovakian league title in club history. The league was reduced from twelve to eight teams for the following season. Therefore, the league management made ​​after a first group stage the top two teams in the second-rate first league, the HK Spartak Dubnica and MsHK Žilina along with the lower half of the Extraliga play the two teams that could both participate in the Extraliga next year, as well as to the playoffs the season 1998 /99. The top six teams in the Extraliga in the first group stage played among each of the playoff standings.
