2012–13 Slovak Extraliga season

The season 2012/13 is the 20th regular hosting of the highest Slovak Hockey League, the Tipsport Extraliga. Acting Master is the HC Slovan Bratislava, the HC Kosice defeated 4-3 wins in the best- of-seven series in the playoff finals. Since Slovan Bratislava joined the Continental Hockey League in the summer of 2012, there was no losers. Slovan was replaced by the SHK 37 Piestany. As in the previous season eleven team take part in the game mode, the Slovak U-20 national team plays again as HK Orange 20 except standings.

Mode

In the main round each of the ten regular teams completed a total of 56 games. The top eight teams qualified for the playoffs, where the Master was played. In addition to the regular participants also joined the Slovak U20 national team as a guest under the name HK Orange 20 from each league affiliate in return game on, with the roles of HK Orange 20 remained except standings. The last placed the main round had to play in the relegation against the champions of League 1. For one victory after regulation time, each team received three points for a win after overtime or shootout two points for a loss after overtime or shootout, there was a point and at a defeat after regular time zero points.

Expulsion

The Letzplatztierte MHC Mountfield Martin hit the master of the first league, the HC 46 Bardejov in the League Extraliga and relegation between League 1.
