2012 Città di Caltanissetta
The Città di Caltanissetta 2012 was the 14th edition of the tennis clay court tournament in Caltanissetta. It was part of the ATP Challenger Tour in 2012 and was discharged from the 6th to the 14th August 2011.
The field of the individual competition consisted of 32 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. For the individual tournament, a qualifying round with 24 participants took place in the run-up in which four players were able to qualify for the main draw. The prize money of the event was 64,000 €.
In single won the Spanish wildcard owner Tommy Robredo, who won the final against the unseeded Portuguese Gastão Elias in two sets. This was the third Challenger singles title of his career and his first in 12 years. The reason for this lay in his temporary successes in higher-class tournaments, so he no longer took on the Challenger Tournaments category. By participating in Caltanissetta Robredo returned after a five -month injury lay back on the international competition stage. Last year's winner Andreas Haider- Maurer of Austria did not appear to defend their title.
In the doubles competition at the set position three pair failed to win consisting of Marcel Felder of Uruguay and Antonio Veic from Croatia the final against the Spaniard Daniel Gimeno -Traver two and Iván Navarro in the match tie-break. This was Felder's ninth and last title on the Challenger tour of his career, for Veic it was the second title in a dual tournament at Challenger level. It was their first joint success. The Italian last year's winner Daniele Bracciali and Simone Vagnozzi not competed to defend their title.
