The 39th National Hockey League All-Star Game was held on February 9, 1988 in St. Louis. The match took place at the St. Louis Arena, the venue of the host St. Louis Blues. The All-Stars of the Prince of Wales Conference beat the Campbell Conference just 6-5 in overtime. The game saw 17,878 spectators. Mario Lemieux of the Pittsburgh Penguins has been named the MVP.

Both Mario Lemieux, who was involved with three goals and three assists on all hits of his team, and Mats Naslund with five assists (including all three goals of Lemieux ) on time scorer records in an All -Star game, which even today are still valid.
