A1 Team Great Britain

A1 Team Great Britain (English stylization: A1Team.Great Britain) was the British National Team in the A1GP series. It was in the seasons 2005/2006, 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 respectively third in the championship.

History

A1 Team Great Britain was founded by Tony Clements, and John Surtees, Formula 1 World Champion of 1964, - the latter has, however, withdrawn at the beginning of the third season of his business, since he wanted to take care increasingly inter alia, the racing career of his son Henry; as team acted in the first season, the British team Arden International, since a separate team is employed.

In the first season, the British were among the top teams. Already in the main race of the inaugural race weekend at home in Brands Hatch victory was within reach, a technical defect, however, forced the team in the lead for the task. The first place on the podium was finally achieved on the Euro Speedway Lausitz with second place in the feature race by Robbie Kerr, followed by another seven podiums ( four second and two third places by Robbie Kerr and a third place by Darren Manning ). It finished the season in third place with 97 points.

In the following season, the team was able to maintain his position. After five podiums (two second places by Oliver Jarvis and two second and one third place by Robbie Kerr) finally succeeded Oliver Jarvis in the main race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the first victory for the British. The next race weekend in Shanghai then Robbie Kerr could also celebrate a victory ( in the sprint races), followed by a second place in the feature race. He repeated this result at Brands Hatch, where especially the victory in the sprint race is important, as it hereby the British succeeded as the first nation to achieve a victory at a home race. The team finished the season again as third overall with 92 points.

In the third season, the team was again among the best. It has two victories - and achieve more 6 podiums ( three second places by Jarvis and two second and one third place by Kerr) - one in the main race at Zandvoort by Oliver Jarvis and one in the sprint race at Brands Hatch by Robbie Kerr. In the end, again the third overall place to book, this time with 126 points.

The first race weekend of the fourth season after missing the team due to the chassis delivery problems. On his return to Chengdu Danny Watts arrive right away two second places. Three more points results meant the end the tenth position overall with 28 points.

A1 Team Great Britain has participated in 38 race weekends of the A1GP series.

Driver

A1 Team Great Britain continued to race weekends a nine different drivers, five of whom also took part in the race itself. In addition came at the official tests at Silverstone and Le Castellet 2005 Alex Lloyd used.
