Álvaro Bautista

Álvaro Bautista Arce ( born November 21, 1984 in Talavera de la Reina ) is a Spanish motorcycle racer.

In the 2006 season he became world champion in the 125cc class of the MotoGP World Championship. Currently Bautista starts in MotoGP class.

Career

Early years

Álvaro Bautista gained his first experience on two wheels at the age of three years on minibikes, where he also celebrated its first successes.

Then in 1997 he went into the Aprilia 50 cc Cup, he finished in sixth place overall. The following year he won in this series then third place behind Jorge Lorenzo and Joan olivé.

For 1999, he was selected by Alberto Puig under 400 pilots who Copa Movistar to deny that he graduated fifth.

In the following years he played the Spanish 125cc Championship. In 2002 he graduated as a wildcard rider in this class at the Grand Prix of Spain at Jerez in his first race in the Motorcycle World Championship.

125 cc class

The 2003 season was his first as a regular driver in the Motorcycle World Championship. Bautista drove in the team of soccer stars Clarence Seedorf an Aprilia, but could reach the 20th place in the overall standings with 31 points from 16 races. For the 2007 season, Álvaro Bautista joined the team of Jorge Martínez in the 250 cc class, where he drove an Aprilia factory bike. His teammate, Alex De Angelis of San Marino.
