The Autostrada A10 ( for, A10 Italian '), also Autostrada dei Fiori (Italian for, highway of flowers' ) called, is an Italian highway in Liguria ( northern Italy), located along the Côte Fleurie via Savona and Imperia to Genoa Ventimiglia (border to France) leads.

History

The final route from Genoa to Savona was opened on September 5, 1967, because the direction of the road to Genoa existed before. The route Savona - Ventimiglia on was opened to traffic on November 6, 1971.

Between Genoa and Savona the direction of Ventimiglia has been extended recently to three lanes. The original carriageway towards Genoa already possessed the appropriate width for 3 lanes, since before the opening in 1967 ran the traffic in both directions. It follows that the old road towards Genoa essential " tortuous " runs as the opposite direction, comparable to the Genoa- Serravalle ( A7).

Location and History

The highway runs along its entire length along the Italian Riviera, past cities such as Genoa, Savona, Imperia, and Ventimiglia. The northbound carriageway ( → Ventimiglia ) has, between the A26 Genoa - Voltri and Albisola, the southbound carriageway ( → Genoa) between Varazze and the A26 to three lanes. The remaining sections are four lanes, but is absent in most of the way a hard shoulder.

Due to the mountainous terrain of the western Ligurian coast, the highway on their route numerous tunnels and viaducts (see below Viadotto Polcevera ) on.

The Autostrada dei Fiori begins at a junction with the A7 Genoa. On their way to the west it leads us through the western suburbs of Genoa, as Pegli and Voltri before sharing the two carriageways. The north road leads through the hinterland of the Riviera coast, while the Südfahrbahn coastal, is out with some tight corners. In Voltri the A26 branches off to the Grave Toce. Until after Albisola the roadways are kept separate from each other, from the junction they are executed in parallel and one arrives in the port city of Savona. Here at the same time, there is a connection via the A6 to Turin.

Switch to Savona and the operating companies and the A10 is now leading to constant change of viaducts and tunnels to the border of Menton. She crosses among others, the westernmost province capital of Liguria, the city of Imperia. On the Italian / French border at Ventimiglia / Menton A10 leads seamlessly into the French A8.

A10 can therefore be subdivided into two parts, in the following sections:

  • Genoa - Savona, operated by the Autostrada per l' Italia and opened in 1967;
  • Savona - Ventimiglia, operated by the Autostrada dei Fiori SpA and 1971 released.

Connections

The A10 has the following highway - crossing points:

  • A7 to Milan, and A12 to Rome ( starting point of the A10)
  • A26 to the Po Valley and Switzerland
  • A6 Turin

Passante di Genova

Due to the high volume of traffic in crowded urban area of Genoa, it is planned to relocate the existing highway in the mountainous hinterland of Genoa. This major project is also known as Passante di Genova.
