Bauernfeindstraße (Nuremberg U-Bahn)

Metro Station Bauernfeindstraße (abbreviation: BA ) opened as the seventh Metro Station of the Nuremberg U- Bahn on 1 March 1972. It is 1509 meters from Hasenbuck Metro Station and 506 meters from the subway station fair. Until 18 June 1974 it was the terminus for the line U1. Until January 28, 1978 could be switched to the tram here.

The Bauernfeindstraße is named after Karl Maximilian von Bauernfeind, former Professor at the Royal Polytechnic School in Munich (now the Technical University of Munich).

Location and infrastructure

The station is located in the district of Nuremberg marshalling yard settlement and extends above ground in northwest-southeast orientation of the Bauernfeindstraße in a cutting direction southeast. Attractions in the surroundings of the station are the district of the railroad marshalling yard, the Silver Lake and the People's Park dozen pond

The only steps leads from the northern platform head to Bauernfeindstraße. An elevator leads from the northern end of the station to the surface. At the railway station, long toward water followed by a X-shaped double track change.

In the incision site, which now houses the Metro Station, was from 1964 to 1970 the turning loop tram. There, a track had already been created for the never realized continuation of the tram to cross water. Since two bridges were south of the subway station already completed when a tram was planned after long water located between the stations of fair and Bauernfeindstraße a very tight curve, which is not yet created by tram parameters. In the long term it is planned to replace this line by a straight line routing.

Building and Architecture

Construction of the 126 m long station building began on 20 March 1967 with the release of the first Rammschlags by the then Lord Mayor Urschlechter. The elevator was upgraded in 1987 after removal of the downward-leading escalator.

The platform roof is supported by eight concrete columns.

Lines

The station is serviced by the underground lines U1 and U11. In the Münchner Straße is a stop for the OVF line 603 ( Nuremberg - Raubersried ). At the weekend, the night bus routes N4 and N15.
