BMW PGA Championship

The BMW PGA Championship is a men's golf tournament on the European Tour. It was founded in 1955 by the British Professional Golfers' Association and originally called the British PGA Championship. Since then, she had several sponsors names, with the addition of " PGA Championship" often remained a part of the name.

The BMW PGA Championship is played each year in May at the West Course at Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. Since the PGA European Tour has its headquarters here, and therefore it is considered the home tournament of the tour, the BMW PGA Championship is often seen as their flagship event. Normally with any other event organized by the tour with higher prize money was paid out, but this changed in 2009 with the introduction of the Race to Dubai and the doped with $ 10 million Dubai World Championship at the end of the season. There are on the European Tour even more lucrative tournaments, such as the majors and the World Golf Championships, but these are organized by other tour operators. With a minimum of 64 rank points for the winner of the tournament also has a high priority in the Official World Golf Rankings.

In 2000, Colin Montgomerie managed as a single title hat-trick.
