Bodenwöhr

Bodenwoehr is a municipality in the southern district Schwandorf in the Bavarian administrative region Upper Palatinate. The place is a nationally recognized resort.

Geography

Geographical Location

Bodenwoehr lies to the east of the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park. The town lies on the banks of the lake hammer, an 8 -kilometer swimming lake, which offers plenty of opportunities for swimming, fishing and boating. By 2009, his bank was embellished. There new bike and hiking trails have been laid out and built a new beach. The lake is bordered to the east by the Warblers Rucker pond and to the northwest by Weichselbrunn pond.

History

The place Bodenwoehr is first documented in 1123 as " Potenwre ". An iron hammer was moved to 1464 Bodenwoehr ago. With the founding of political communities in Bavaria in 1818 the town belonged to the municipality Neuenschwand. In 1921, the renaming of the former " community Neuenschwand " in " community Bodenwoehr " took place.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, until then independent municipality Taxöldern was incorporated. On 1 May 1978, the former municipality Erzhäuser and parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Altenschwand were added.

The Bodenwoehr North station is on the railway line Schwandorf - Furth im Wald.
