Buchholterberg

Buchholterberg is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality is located in a hilly area on the right side of the valley and ranges from Rothachen gorge up to the Schindelberg. The main settlement is the village Heimenschwand. Up on the hillside are out of this village nor the hamlet Zihl and Bätterich. Below are the hamlets of Marbach, Schaub house, bathhouse, Ibach, Wangelen, Teufenbach, Wyler and Rothachen. In recent years, the new quarters Heimenegg, Hoh and Längmatt have emerged. Of the total area of ​​1534 ha municipality 59.3 % is used for agriculture. About one-third ( 34.2 %) is covered by forest and woodland, and only 5.4% settlement area.

Population

In early 2005 the municipality had 1,480 inhabitants. Of these, 1,463 ( = 98.85 %), Swiss nationals and 17 foreign immigrants.

History

The first mention of Buchholterberg dated from 1238 as Bucholtron. The municipality since 1863 belongs only to the administrative district of Thun.
