Buscemi
Buscemi is a city of Syracuse in Sicily region of Italy with 1096 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).
Location and data
Buscemi is 50 km west of Syracuse. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture.
The neighboring municipalities are Buccheri, Cassaro, Ferla, Giarratana (RG), Modica (RG) and Palazzolo Acreide.
History
The town has existed since the time of the Normans. At the Arab period was the name of the place Idrisi. A heavy earthquake destroyed many places in Sicily in 1693, including Buscemi. The reconstruction was carried out north of the old city.
