Calciano

Calciano is a municipality in the province of Matera in the region of Basilicata.

In Calciano 786 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The place is 86 km west of Matera. The neighboring municipalities are Accettura Albano di Lucania (PZ ), Campomaggiore (PZ ), Garaguso, Grassano, Oliveto Lucano and Tricarico.

Calciano was built around 1300. At that time the place was called Gaudianum. The place was at that time on the mountain Serre who are residents but moved due to earthquakes on the current hill.
