Pisticci

Pisticci is a municipality in the province of Matera in the region of Basilicata.

In Pisticci 17,386 inhabitants ( December 31, 2012). The town is located 68 km south of Matera. The neighboring municipalities are Bernalda, Craco, Ferrandina Montalbano Jonico, Montescaglioso, Pomarico and Scanzano Jonico.

The town was founded in ancient times. This is suggested by numerous finds from the 6th century BC

About a kilometer away is the approximately 1000 years the Sanctuary of Madonna del Casale.

About five kilometers north of Pisticci, in which the district Pisticci Scalo, there is a station on the railway line Battipaglia - Metaponto and the airfield Pisticci.
