Miglionico

Miglionico is a municipality in the province of Matera in the region of Basilicata.

In Miglionico 2517 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The village is located approximately 21 km southwest of Matera. The neighboring municipalities are Ferrandina Grottole, Matera, Montescaglioso and Pomarico.

Miglionico has been founded by the Greeks. The city was named General of Pyrrhua by Milone.

Worth seeing are the castle, the seat of the Barons was in the uprising against King Ferdinand of Aragon in 1481. Next worth seeing is the church of the former monastery of the polyptych of Cima da Conegliano.
